Camden Academy Winter Spring Club Fair

Camden Academy Charter High School students gathered at the Winter/Spring Afterschool Program Fair on Wednesday, February 11.

There were many clubs to choose from, ranging from sound production to gardening. Students, no matter their grade level, came together and picked the clubs they were excited to be a part of.

For many of the staff in attendance, this was a chance to show students a world beyond social media. Mr. Arrington, the organizer of the event, had this to say: “I wanted to open up the students’ minds to experience new ideas and expand their thinking.” He also shared that through this fair, students can see more than just academics, they can discover clubs that inspire them and open their minds to new possibilities.

Mr. Baker, one of the creators of the Photography and Creative Writing Club, shared his inspiration: “What inspired me to create the Creative Writing and Photography Club is that I am a working photographer. While many see photography as just a hobby, it is an art form that can also be lucrative.” “I chose ping pong,” one of the senior students answered. “I’ve been playing for the last two years, and I enjoy it.”

The staff all noted that they wanted to inspire and broaden students’ minds, believing the best way to do so is by taking a creative approach. As spring approaches, many students will begin learning a new art form or life skill that they can carry with them into the next chapter of their lives.
