Camden's Pride Morning Annoucements

More than just morning announcements, Camden’s Pride Media Audio Club builds communication and confidence

Camden’s Pride starts off every morning with announcements, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the school motto. What makes it interesting is that these announcements are done by the fourth graders at Pride.

This new initiative shows that many of the fourth graders will be prepared as they transition to fifth grade at the end of the school year, according to Camden’s Pride principal Mrs. Hahn.

“We started this initiative in February to prepare our fourth graders for fifth grade,” Hahn said. “The students read the morning announcements, a Black History fact, the pledge, and the motto. Two fourth graders come up every day to read the announcements.”

The program will continue until the end of the school year. Students in the Media Audio Club, organized by Ms. Pannell, prepare the students to do announcements.

“Media Audio Club is our way of getting the students engaged in what’s happening,” Pannell said. “The students practice getting ready to make the announcements and are also working on starting a school newspaper.”

Fourth grader Heaven Rivas, who made the announcements on Thursday morning (Feb.19) said it was a proud moment.

“At first, I was kind of scared,” Rivas said. “After I started saying the announcements, I wasn’t scared anymore.”

Throughout the school year, many fourth grade students will make announcements, and starting a newspaper is astounding. Future media broadcasters are in the making at Camden’s Pride.
